A two-time Super Bowl champion who played for legendary coaches Vince Lombardi and Don Shula will be on campus to address Saint Patrick High School students on Thursday, Oct. 6.
Bill Curry – a Pro Bowl center who went on to become a two-time SEC Coach of the Year (1987 & 1989) at the University of Alabama – will speak about his career as a player, coach, leader and much more. He will offer advice and guidance to not only the Shamrocks football team, but the entire student body.
Curry retired from snapping the ball to the likes of Hall of Famers Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas in 1974, and one year later he completed his commitment as President of the NFL Players Association.
He later became an Assistant Coach with the Green Bay Packers (1977-79) before serving as the head coach of some of the country’s most prestigious college football programs, including Georgia Tech (1980-86), Alabama (1987-89) and Kentucky (1990-96).
In 1997, Curry became a College Football Analyst for ESPN. He returned to the sidelines in 2008 to become the first football coach at Georgia State University, a position he held until 2012.
Curry now focuses his efforts on his roles as an educator and public speaker.
