A dominant offensive performance led the Saint Patrick football team to a season-opening victory over St. Rita on Aug. 28 at Soldier Field.
The Shamrocks defeated the Mustangs by a score of 47-44, and did most of their damage through the air.
Senior quarterback Anthony Mazzenga threw for 375 yards and six touchdowns in the victory, while senior wide receiver Andrew Edgar pulled down eight catches for 146 yards and four TDs.
Senior running back Niko Childress led the way on the ground with 102 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Defensive standouts included senior linebackers Connor Sisk and Ivan Gonzalez – who each had a team-high seven tackles – and senior Louis Cerone, who followed up a fourth-quarter tackle for loss with a sack to help close the game out.
