Below are results for Shamrock Athletics this past week and weekend.
Basketball
Saint Patrick Hoops improved to 17-5 (5-1 in ESCC conference play) over the weekend with wins at home on Alumni Night vs. Marist (49-43) Friday night and at Conant (63-42) on Saturday. Senior Joe Fanning made his season debut in Friday night’s game and senior Nick Cioffi returned to the court after missing nearly a month.
Shamrocks (17-5) travel to #4 Notre Dame (22-3) this Friday 2/7. Tip off is 7 pm. Sophomores play at 5:30.
Bowling
Shamrocks took 4th place in the IHSA State Finals in O’Fallon, IL. Sophomore Jacob Perry tied for 5th place as an individual with a 223 average and senior Josh Baumstark averaged 215 to finish 20th. For a season recap by Hunter Tickel of Private Preps, click here.
Hockey
Shamrock Hockey fell to Lane Tech in a hard fought playoff game on Saturday night 5-2. Playoffs continue on Wednesday 2/12 against Fox Valley.
Shamrocks will play Notre Dame in a rivalry game tomorrow (Wednesday 2/5) at Parkway Bank Park in Rosemont at 6:20 pm.
Swimming
The swim team competed against Saint Viator on Thursday, January 30th. Varsity won 78-16 and JV defeated Saint Viator 62-12.
Shamrocks will compete in the MCAC (Metro Catholic Aquatic Conference) Championships this weekend. Varsity & Frosh/Soph will compete Saturday at Fenwick High School at 10 am. Junior Varsity will compete on Sunday at Loyola Academy at 10 am. Senior Night will be Tuesday 2/11 against Notre Dame and Mount Carmel.
Wrestling
Saint Patrick competed in the ESCC Conference Championships on Friday at Joliet Catholic. Shamrocks finished in 4th place as a team out of nine teams with only six wrestlers competing. Five wrestlers earned All-Conference Honors:
Sean Conway ’22 (113 lbs): 2nd place, Record 27-5
Delano Walker ’20 (138 lbs): 3rd place, Record 27-7
Alex Goworowski ’22 (182 lbs): 3rd place, Record 23-11
Jimmy Clancy ’21 (195 lbs): 3rd place, Record 25-12
Ronald Krewer ’20 (220 lbs): 2nd place, Record 21-9
Varsity will compete in Regionals on Saturday 2/4 at Elmwood Park High School beginning at 9 am.
