The Shamrocks are off to a 12-3 start (4-0 in conference play) after defeating Marian Central Catholic yesterday 6-0 with other big wins coming against Notre Dame College Prep and #15 Benet Academy.
The Shamrocks retained the Irish Cup for the second straight year with a 2-1 victory over conference rival Notre Dame College Prep on Wednesday. September 19. They lead 1-0 at the half as a result of a Jonathan “Pollo” Rodriguez ‘20 goal, assisted by Sebastian “Bash” Modrzejewski ‘20. With less than four minutes left in the game, Notre Dame was awarded and converted a penalty kick, tying the game at 1-1. Less than two minutes later, senior captain Herbert Carrera headed in the game winner off an Aaron Moreno ‘20 free kick.
This past Saturday, the Shamrocks defeated Benet Academy “in a huge conference victory,” according to Head Coach Kyle McClure. The goal was scored by sophomore Joshua Torres, assisted by senior captain Diego Rivera. Sophomore goalkeeper Jorge Cebrero made seven saves to preserve the shutout. According to McClure, “The rotating defensive line of junior Adam Przytula, junior Juan Leon, junior Collin Kroeger, and Rodriguez were outstanding in the shutout victory.”
The next home game for the Shamrocks is Monday, October 1st at 4:30 pm at Resurrection College Prep.
