Eric Olson Jr ’21 (pictured with Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson) was selected to receive an award from the Chicago Police Department to acknowledge his dedication and significant impact on public safety. Eric was presented with The Arnold Mireles Special Partnership Award at the Superintendent’s Monthly Department Commendation Award Ceremony on Tuesday, January 22nd for his volunteer efforts this past summer.
The sophomore at Saint Patrick High School helped his father, Captain Eric Olson, coach a baseball team in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The team was made up of 10-13 year olds who had never played baseball before. “It was a good experience,” Eric said. “I enjoyed helping the kids and I really like doing service.”
As a Catholic School in the Lasallian tradition, Saint Patrick students are called to faith, service and community. We are proud of Eric’s efforts and grateful to the Chicago Police Department for acknowledging him with this award.
