On Friday, August 20, the 161st school year in the history of Saint Patrick High School, and the first with Dan Santucci ’02 at the helm, began. As the newest class of freshmen entered the building they were greeted by students, faculty, staff and senior Ryan Bender on bagpipes playing the school song. It was a great start to the school year!

The rest of the student body returned to five-day, in-person learning on Monday, August 23 and although it’s only been a month since school started, so much has happened already as the energy at Austin and Belmont is at an all-time high.

Homecoming festivities returned as St. Pat’s hosted over fifty 8th grade boys for its annual Pep Rally Shadow Day, Shamrock Football defeated Marian Central in front of a packed house at Triton College and this year’s Homecoming Dance was held outside in the Austin Parking Lot.

The motto for the 2021-22 school year is Faith. Tradition. Brotherhood. To celebrate our Faith, the school community has begun gathering again for in-person All-School Liturgies, which will now be held across the street at the beautiful St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

The Tradition of Shamrocks returning to 5900 W. Belmont continues as in addition to Santucci, who assumed the role of president on July 1st, four Shamrocks returned home – Tim Trendel ’94 (Assistant Principal), Paul Csongradi ’12 (Assistant Principal for Student Affairs & Activities), Ralph Scorpio ’10 (Director of Alumni Relations) and Tommy Creighton ’16 (Marketing Coordinator). Saint Patrick also welcomed former head football coach Dan Galante back to the Admissions team.

Finally, the Brotherhood can be seen everywhere. This year already, the Classes of 1960, 1961 & 1970 gathered to celebrate their 50- and 60-year reunions, Shamrocks, young and old, came together in the Alumni Tent at home football games, and alumni and friends of Saint Patrick raised money for Tuition Assistance at the 6th Annual Walt Schmit ‘59 Shamrock 9 Golf Outing (Click Here for photos).

As we move into the fall, Saint Patrick looks ahead to welcoming prospective families for additional Shadow Days and Open Houses on Thursday, October 14 and Sunday, November 7. Any families interested in learning more are encouraged to visit www.stpatrick.org/admissions.
