Congratulations to freshman cross country runner, Sergio Mendieta, for qualifying for next weekend’s IHSA State Finals in Peoria. Mendieta, named Saint Patrick’s Athlete of the Week earlier in the week after his standout performance at Regionals, qualified for State by shaving 20 seconds off his personal best time placing him in the Top 20 at Saturday’s Sectional meet at Washington Park.
