Junior Avan Edobor was selected as the East Suburban Catholic Conference’s Track Student-Athlete of the Year following a strong performance at the ESCC meet in May 10.
Edobor won the triple jump (42-2) and 200-meter dash (23.97) at the meet, and took second place in the 100-meter dash (11.69) and the long jump (20-6).
St. Pat’s took fourth place at the conference meet as a team score of 63. Benet Academy finished first with 127 points, followed by Marist with 126 and Notre Dame with 89.
Senior Luke Labuz took third place in both the 300-meter hurdles (45.45) and the 110-meter hurdles (17.60), and senior Colm Keane took second in shotput with a throw of 43-4.
Other standout performances from the Shamrocks included a fourth-place finish from senior Ayo Ajayi in the high jump (5-6), a sixth-place finish for senior Luis Torres in the 400-meter dash (54.72) and a sixth-place finish for senior Jonathan Hamilton in discus (117-6).
The St. Pat’s 1,600-meter relay team took fourth place at the meet, while the 3,200-meter relay team finished fifth.
The Shamrocks will be back in action on Friday, May 19, when the compete in the Lisle Sectional.
