Dear Family,
As we continue to monitor the situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remains our highest priority. Saint Patrick High School will respond as directed by the appropriate medical authorities as it becomes necessary. Additionally, we will continue with enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of the school, including all hard surfaces until further notice.
As of right now, we plan to return to school on Tuesday, March 17 after two previously scheduled days off (Cyber Day on Friday, March 13 & St. Patrick’s Day Observed on Monday, March 16).
However, students are encouraged to bring their iPads and any textbooks or workbooks home in case circumstances change. Please understand that these decisions are fluid and ever-changing and circumstances may warrant immediate adjustment(s). As the situation evolves, we will notify our families immediately. Please check your email regularly for any updates. We will also communicate via our automated phone call system and have relevant information on our website at www.stpatrick.org/coronavirus-information/.
Out of an abundance of caution, regarding extracurriculars and after school activities:
– The Spring Musical, Tarzan, will be postponed at this time and re-scheduled at a later date.
– Practices and rehearsals are continuing as scheduled by their coaches/moderators unless communicated otherwise.
– Competitions and future events will be determined on a case-by-case basis and the coach(es) will notify their teams as warranted based on recommendations from the IHSA and other governmental authorities.
Please visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website for steps to follow if you or someone in your household is sick to help prevent the virus from spreading to people in your home and community. As a reminder, and in an effort to proactively prevent exposure of all respiratory viruses and strains of influenza, we ask that you keep your son(s) home if they are showing any signs of flu-like symptoms or fever. In addition, families who plan to travel domestically or internationally in the near future should use caution. Please see the CDC Travel Health Notices for guidance.
We continue to pray for those affected by the Coronavirus and for the caregivers, doctors, and nurses who are caring for them, and especially for those who are without access to medical and community support.
Sincerely,
Jon Baffico
