The following students have been selected as Saint Patrick high School’s Students of the Month for the month of August: Carlos Calcano, Brian Fox, Raekwon Livingston, Victor Matkowski, Anthony Mazzenga, Tommy McManamon, Luis Torres and Anthony Weidel.
The purpose of the Student of the Month Program is to recognize each students’ contributions to the Saint Patrick community at large. A teacher, administrator, staff member or counselor can nominate the students based upon any or all or the following criteria: Outstanding or improved grades, exemplary attendance, cooperation, leadership, overall achievement, consideration of others, academic curiosity, outstanding attitude and community involvement/service.
Name: Carlos Calcano
Grade level: Freshman
Previous school: Chase
Reason for nomination: As a freshman, Carlos has already shown leadership in the classroom as a conscientious student. Beyond that, his mannerisms and attitude are outstanding examples of the type of kid that should be at St. Pat’s. It always brightens my day to see Carlos and he never leaves without telling me to have a nice day.
Name: Brian Fox
Grade level: Freshman
Previous school: St. Clement
Reason for nomination: Brian works hard, takes initiative and maintains a positive attitude that is contagious. He adds to the class with his attitude, insights and diligence.
Name: Raekwon Livingston
Grade level: Senior
Previous school: Jenner Academy of the Arts
Reason for nomination: Rae is a role model for all underclassmen who meet him. He is independent, his manners proceed him, his work ethic is second to none, his expectations for himself are high and his willingness to participate in all aspects of Shamrock student life – from academics to athletics – is impressive. Rae’s goals for college and beyond are constantly kept in mind and his future is bright. The St. Patrick community should be proud of this future alum and all he will continue to do for the Shamrock name.

Reason for nomination: Victor is an extremely hard working and dedicated student. He often asks for ways to go above and beyond in his classes. He is respectful and engaged during class. In addition to his study habits, Victor is helpful to his peers and respectful to all. He embodies the values of a Shamrock.
Name: Anthony Mazzenga
Grade level: Senior
Previous school: St. Monica
Reason for nomination: Anthony is a leader in the classroom and on the field. He is one of the captains on the football team. His demeanor and work ethic have spurred our team to a 4-0 record.
Name: Tommy McManamon
Grade level: Junior
Previous school: St. Juliana
Reason for nomination: Tommy is a pleasant student and the kind of kid we want representing St. Pat’s. Tommy makes it a point to stop in and say hello every day.

Previous school: Fuentes
Reason for nomination: Luis is passionate about learning the Chinese language and culture. He is always giving his best effort on every assignment. He earned a scholarship to study in China during the summer. He is also friendly and willing to share his knowledge with his classmates.
Name: Anthony Weidel
Grade level: Junior
Previous school: Immaculate Conception
Reason for nomination: Anthony has demonstrated leadership in the Anime/Sci-Fi club. Over the summer Anthony took the initiative to contact members to plan club events. As soon as school started Anthony was the leader in organizing the back-to-school party, planning the activities and delegating responsibilities to other members. He’s played a primary role in advertising and promoting the club.
