The Summer Bridge Program will prepare students for high school who have been identified as needing additional support in Math and/or English. When registering, provide your first and second choice (below) from the four available sessions. We will do our best to accommodate your choices. Each of the four available sessions is three consecutive weeks long.
Session 1: 6/10 – 6/27 (8a-11a)
Session 2: 6/10 – 6/27 (12p-3p)
Session 3: 7/8 – 7/25 (8a-11a)
Session 4: 7/8 – 7/25 (12p-3p)
SUBJECTS: English, Math, Reading, Study Skills, and Orientation
ENGLISH and READING: In English, the areas to be covered include grammar, sentence structure, and building paragraphs. In Reading there will be testing and placement in essential skills, such as comprehension, vocabulary, decoding, and rate. There will be use of standardized reading tests, and the reading of short stories.
MATH: The basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in the following areas will be covered: whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers. Prealgebra and introductory algebra skills will be covered. Students will be regularly tested, and there will be concentration on individual areas of deficiency.
STUDY SKILLS: Students will be instructed in the techniques of good study habits. These include goal setting, time scheduling, outlining, mapping, highlighting, and organization. The successful student is the one that knows HOW to study. The iPad will also be set up with the applications and email that will be used during the year.
COST: We have dropped the cost of the Summer Bridge program by more than half to $200. The Summer Bridge Program incorporates the Class of 2027 Orientation so you do not need to register for that program. You can make your payment during registration.
